If you can’t test, you can’t treat

Roche and (RED) are on a shared mission to raise awareness about the significance of diagnostics and testing in the global fight against preventable and treatable diseases. Thanks to decades of investment, low-and-middle income countries have been able to develop more robust health systems that include strengthened laboratories for testing and trained healthcare professionals.

Even with available tests and treatment, preventable diseases place a tremendous pressure on health systems, communities and economies, especially in low-and-middle income countries.

Since 2020 we proudly partnered with (RED) to increase awareness and drive systemic changes so that people can access reliable testing and equitable healthcare. Working together with creative collaborators, our partnership spotlights the continued need to invest in diagnostics which is pivotal in making significant progress towards universal health coverage.

Sustainable healthcare financing mechanisms remain at the core of Universal Health Coverage which ensures that all people, regardless of where they live, receive the best standard of care. In turn, testing and laboratories are the backbone of strong healthcare systems and need strategic investments directed towards prevention to deliver the highest impact for people and communities. Behind every test are years of investments in research and development, policy changes, advocacy, infrastructure development and capacity building.

Reliable testing and innovative diagnostics technologies are crucial to support timely diagnosis and continuous disease management that enable deadly diseases elimination and fighting future pandemics. The global fight against HIV/AIDS is a clear example of the value of diagnostics tools and continuous investments to expand access to them.

Specifically in sub-Saharan Africa, we are committed to creating greater awareness about the importance and value of diagnostics building on the HIV backbone to strengthen laboratory and health systems for even broader impact.

Through our partnership with (RED), we aim to connect more people to testing so they know their status and access the right treatment to stay alive and thrive. This means access to diagnostics can spread so that disease cannot. Let us work together to show the world how access to reliable testing can change communities and build the future of a generation.

If you can’t test you can’t treat and you can’t save lives.

(RED) X Roche

Accurate testing is the backbone of ending any pandemic. A reliable HIV test provides empowering, life-saving information. Moreover, leveraging diagnostics to expand screening of related infectious diseases such as HPV, tuberculosis and hepatitis is critical to reducing mortality and supporting global elimination targets.

With treatment, a person’s viral load can be suppressed to the point where it’s unlikely the virus will be transmitted to others. An early positive diagnosis for a pregnant woman can provide life-saving information to help her stay healthy and ensure her child is born HIV-free.

Testing doesn’t end once a person discovers their HIV status. Regular viral load monitoring of the virus arms people with the information they need to stay healthy and empowers them to pursue their dreams.
